According to a press release by the Atlanta Thrashers regarding this year's Traverse City tournament, these are the eligibility rules for this year's tournament: "Per tournament rules, each team may only have a maximum of four players with one year of professional experience each. In order to participate, all skaters must have been born no later than 1983; goalies are exempt from this restriction." As a consequence of this rule, PJ Atherton will not be eligible to play in this year's tournament (without an exception being made, which is altogether possible in these tournaments). However, Andy Rogers will be eligible to play under this scenario, as will Justin Keller. Mike Egener remains inelligible because he has played two years of pro. Because of the goaltender exemptions the team could take Morgan Cey, Gerald Coleman or Jonathan Boutin to Traverse City along with Ramo, Helenius and Beech, although I am still betting they will only carry three goaltenders. Tampabaylightning.com has released the final stats for the 2006 Conditioning and Tryout Camp scrimmages. Leading the way for the tournament, which was won by Team White 3-2, was free agent and former Portland Winter Hawk Brian Woolger with 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points. Right behind him was recently signed Lightning prospect Blair Jones (Moose Jaw) with 2-2-4. Stan Lascek (Chicoutimi), Todd Griffith (Kingston), and Clayton Barthel (Seattle) finished tied for third in scoring, all with three points each in the five games. Barthel led all defensemen in scoring. Woolger, Barthel, and Griffith have all been added to this year's Traverse City Lightning roster as a reward for their impressive showings in camp. Among those registering zero points were Radek Smolenak, who scored 42 goals last year for Kingston of the OHL, and Andy Rogers, who led the Lightning in scoring during last year's Traverse City prospects tournament. Rogers played in four of the five games. Sudbury Wolves goaltender Kevin Beech led the four goalies in save percentage with a .952, followed by fellow Team White 'tender Josh Disher (.923). Kari Ramo registered a .919 save percentage and faced the least amount of shots among the four netminders. Ramo's teammate with Team Black, Boston College's Joe Pearce, faced the most shots at 76. Pearce was the only goalie with a sub-.900 save percentage (.895)
