I'd rather have Luongo burn a performance like this in the preseason rather than when the bullets are real. Timo Helbling gets his last chance to impress today before the final cut. TB-0 FLA-4 (Final) 1st Period 1. Florida- Hagman, (Gratton) (SH) 2nd Period 2. Florida- Huselius, (Olesz) 3rd Period 3. Florida- Hagman, (Huselius, Gratton) 4. Florida- Horton, (Weiss) (PP) Loss: John Grahame, 17/21 (2/2) Shootout TB-2 FLA-0 1. Richards (0) 2. St. Louis (X) 3. Lecavalier (X) And the preseason mercifully comes to a conclusion.

Cristodero reports in today's Times Andy Rogers may be willing to settle for 600K per on his rookie contract in order to stay with the Lightning this year. If Rogers were to be sent back to junior he would only receive a couple hundred dollars stipend for meals. "Taking less" in this case involves making $5,487.80 a game. No one will ever accuse young Mr. Rogers of being dumb.

In today's St. Pete Times, Damian Cristodero writes Evgeny Artyukhin's place on the Lightning's roster is short lived and that the final battle is a showdown between Andy Rogers and Timo Helbling for the final defenseman spot in Tampa. Crisdotero goes on to mention Rogers' need for a contract if he is to be retained in Tampa.

After making nine cuts after last nights exhibition game against the Buffalo Sabres, GM Jay Feaster reiterates that the Lightning will only carry 20 players on its opening night roster. The statement comes a day after Head Coach John Tortorella teased the team may carry an extra defenseman and, thus, 21 players into the regular season. Make up your mind guys.
